Make Jakarta more humane
Make Jakarta more humane
From Pelita
A few months ago, Jakarta's Governor commented that the office
buildings in Jakarta are separated from society because they are
fenced in and guarded by security personnel. According the
Governor, this gives the impression that the users of the
buildings are not friendly and humane.
Yet the Jakarta Metropolitan Administration can do nothing
about it.
In another area many pedestrians are caught for violating
traffic regulations and fined accordingly. Again, this is
inhumane because the sidewalks, fly-passes and bus stops are far
from adequate. So the impression is that Jakarta lacks a decent
life-style.
It would be proper for the governor to abolish all the
building fences along Jl. Thamrin and build more sidewalks for
the pedestrians to make the city look more humane.
