Makassar University Student Rapist Planned to Repeat Offence in Surabaya

Arya explained that the perpetrator carried out his modus operandi by offering victims jobs as babysitters. The perpetrator had even spread similar job postings to deceive other victims in Surabaya.

“The perpetrator’s method is to persuade victims through fake job advertisements. In addition to Makassar, the perpetrator was also found to have posted job advertisements in Surabaya via Facebook,” said Arya.

The perpetrator deliberately rented a house as a base for carrying out his crimes. The perpetrator rented a house in Makassar while holding and raping the victim from Friday (8/5) to Sunday (10/5).

“This person also rented the residence in Makassar on a daily basis, paying Rp 300 thousand per day, and he used it to trap people,” he explained.

Arya said the perpetrator was originally from the island of Sumatra. From preliminary investigations, the perpetrator had previously committed theft in Takalar Regency.
