The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) says it has CCTV footage related to the shooting incident allegedly carried out by Iptu N against Bertrand Eko Prasetyo in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Kompolnas Commissioner Mohammad Choirul Anam revealed that from preliminary analysis the recording shows Iptu N firing without aiming at Bertrand. Choirul said that Iptu N shot Bertrand, which led to the death of the 18-year-old, on Sunday 1 March 2026. Kompolnas, according to Anam, has been in Makassar since Monday 2 March 2026 conducting direct checks at the scene. Kompolnas also met with the victim’s family, and Iptu N, who has become a suspect in the shooting. In addition, Kompolnas also obtained a copy of CCTV recording the event, but the CCTV obtained differs from what has circulated publicly. Anam said that the CCTV viewed by Kompolnas provides a different perspective on the incident. “We have obtained CCTV, with a different angle, clearer, brighter, depicting the incident and the surrounding environment,” Anam said in an audio press statement received by journalists in Jakarta on Thursday 5 March 2026. Anam said that, from the preliminary analysis of the CCTV footage obtained, there appears to be a social setting with children on the street. “And there are police officers present, and that is clearly depicted in the CCTV,” Anam said.
