Police have arrested a man identified by the initials NS, also known as J (22), for shooting a university student, Agus Wirakusuma (21), with an arrow in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The suspect attacked the victim out of spite after being reprimanded for revving his motorcycle loudly.

Makassar Police Public Relations Head, Kompol Wahiduddin, stated that the suspect was apprehended by the Biringkanaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Jalan Goa Ria, Sudiang Ward, Biringkanaya District, on Tuesday (4/8). The suspect committed the assault on Friday (31/7).

‘The suspect was secured by members of the Biringkanaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit and is currently undergoing further legal proceedings,’ Kompol Wahiduddin said, as quoted by detikSulsel on Tuesday (4/8/2026).

Wahiduddin explained that the assault occurred after the victim reprimanded the suspect, who had repeatedly ridden past the victim’s grandmother’s food stall while revving his motorcycle. The suspect took offence at the victim’s warning.

‘The victim told off the suspect, who kept going back and forth revving his motorcycle loudly in front of the victim’s grandmother’s stall. The suspect did not accept this and harboured a grudge against the victim,’ he said.

The suspect eventually challenged the victim to a duel near a burger restaurant. However, the victim refused and attempted to return to his grandmother’s stall, at which point the suspect attacked him from behind with a bow and arrow, striking him in the waist.
