Makassar hosts Japanese cultural expo
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: Japanese cultural arts are being featured in a one-week expo organized by the Japanese Consulate in South Sulawesi's capital Makassar.
Japanese Consul Matsushiro Katsumi said Japanese Culture Week, which was opened on Sept. 12, aimed at introducing Japanese arts and culture so that local people could use them as a reference to develop South Sulawesi's art and culture.
The expo offers various programs such as Ikebana (the art of decorating flowers), Bon-Odori dance, Origami, Yukata, demonstrations of Japanese food and toys, a seminar, documentary films, child and adult movies, a karate show and short courses on Japanese and Washi dolls. --JP
