Makassar Hajj Departure Group Reports 3,135 Pilgrims Have Returned to Indonesia

The Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) of the Makassar Departure Group has announced that with the arrival of the eighth flight group from Pinrang Regency, a total of 3,135 pilgrims and officials have returned to the country.

Wahyuddin Hakim, Head of the Reception and Departure Division for the Makassar Embarkation/Departure Group, stated on Sunday that out of the 16,728 pilgrims originally sent to the Holy Land in Makkah, 3,135 have now arrived back in Indonesia. He noted that eight flight groups have completed their return journey so far.

According to Hakim, the total number of returning pilgrims and officials includes 914 men and 2,221 women. The committee also noted two internal transfers within this group, involving pilgrims from Soppeng and Pinrang Regencies.

Upon arrival in Makassar, the pilgrims were officially handed over to the Pinrang Regency Government during a reception ceremony held at the Arafah Hall of the Sudiang Makassar Hajj Dormitory.

PPIH Makassar data also indicated that one pilgrim from the eighth group is currently receiving medical treatment at King Faisal Hospital in Makkah, while one pilgrim from Pinrang Regency was reported to have passed away in the Holy Land on 19 May 2024.
