Makassar Designates 169.19 Hectares as Sustainable Food Farmland
Deputy Mayor of Makassar Aliyah Mustika Ilham has accepted the designation of 169.19 hectares as Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (LP2B) following the signing of the official report after a finalisation meeting chaired by the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency, Nusron Wahid. Aliyah Mustika stated in Makassar on Thursday that protecting agricultural land is a long-term investment to maintain food security and support sustainable development. “Protecting Sustainable Food Agricultural Land is not just about safeguarding land, but also ensuring the continuity of food security for current and future generations,” she said. She revealed that the Makassar City Government is committed to supporting the policy through synergy with the central government and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. “The signing of the official report on the LP2B designation reaffirms the Makassar City Government’s commitment to continue synergising with the central government and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government in realising sustainable spatial planning,” she explained. Furthermore, her presence was to protect food agricultural land and strengthen food security to support environmentally sound development and improve community welfare. Meanwhile, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency, Nusron Wahid, stressed the importance of accelerating the designation of LP2B in all regions as a concrete step to strengthen national food security and provide legal certainty for agricultural areas that must be protected.
