Makassar City Government Launches Makassar Move Feature on Lontara+ to Boost Citizen Engagement
The Makassar City Government is promoting a healthier lifestyle through the launch of the new Makassar Move feature on the Lontara+ app, which also aims to strengthen citizen participation in maintaining public facilities.
The sports-oriented feature was unveiled by Makassar Mayor Munafri Arifuddin during the Makassar Half Marathon (MHM) 2026 event on Saturday morning (30/05), accompanied by Deputy Mayor Aliyah Mustika Ilham, City Secretary Andi Zulkifli Nanda, TP PKK Chairperson Melinda Aksa, and Head of the City Communication and Information Department Moh Roem.
Addressing thousands of MHM participants, Munafri stated that the new Makassar Move feature is an innovation designed to reward citizens who consistently engage in physical activities such as running, walking, or cycling.
Through the feature, all users’ sports activities will be recorded in the app. Every two weeks, the Makassar City Government will host challenges offering participants the chance to win various attractive prizes.
“Makassar Move is accessible to anyone who runs, walks, or cycles daily. Their activities will be logged in the app, and participants who submit their activities every two weeks are eligible for attractive prizes from the Makassar City Government,” Munafri said.
Makassar Move is described as a new initiative by the city government to promote sustainable healthy living. The programme is also expected to sustain the sporting spirit fostered through various events, including MHM.
“I urge all citizens to access Lontara+ and join Makassar Move for a healthier and better lifestyle in Makassar,” Munafri added.
The role of Makassar Move is not only to encourage physical activity but also to act as the government’s eyes and ears in monitoring city conditions. Users can report public facility issues encountered during their activities, such as damaged footpaths, potholes, and other public amenities.
Head of the City Communication and Information Department Moh Roem explained that each sports activity and report submitted would be converted into points.
“Participants collect as many points as possible. The more points and reports about public facilities, particularly footpaths and potholes, the higher the points earned,” he said.
Accumulated points will give participants the chance to win prizes from the Makassar City Government, ranging from sports equipment to fitness accessories.
“The feature will be available shortly on the Lontara+ app,” Roem concluded.
With this new concept, Makassar Move serves as an innovation that encourages residents to live healthier while actively contributing to the development of a more comfortable and citizen-friendly city.
