Makassar celebrates 394th anniversary

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The South Sulawesi tourism office
will hold a bicycle event on Nov. 4 to commemorate the 394th
anniversary of the province's capital, Makassar.

Event coordinator A. Pagar Alam said on Wednesday that Sepeda
Santai Makassar 2001 would be open to the public, including
foreign tourists staying in the city.

Makassar Mayor Amiruddin Maula will start the event at Losari
beach, according to Maula.

The city's anniversary falls on Nov. 9. --Antara
