Majority of Foreign Nationals Arrested in Hayam Wuruk Online Gambling Raid Entered Indonesia to Work in the Industry
Jakarta - As many as 321 foreign nationals arrested during the raid on an international online gambling network in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta, entered Indonesia without coercion.
Director of General Criminal Acts at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, stated that the majority of these foreign nationals were aware of their purpose in coming to Indonesia to work in online gambling operations.
“This is varied. However, the majority of them indeed knew that their purpose here was to work in online gambling,” said Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra during a press conference on Saturday (9/5/2026).
He emphasised that all legal processes against the perpetrators will be carried out in Indonesia.
“We from the Directorate of General Criminal Acts at Bareskrim Polri are committed to carrying out criminal legal processes. We have already stated the articles we suspect them of, according to their respective roles,” he added.
Previously reported, Polri arrested 321 foreign nationals, 275 of whom have been designated as suspects.
The breakdown includes 228 Vietnamese nationals, 57 Chinese nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 11 Laotian nationals, five Thai nationals, and three each from Malaysia and Cambodia.
During the raid, investigators also seized evidence including safes, passports, mobile phones, laptops, computers, and cash in various foreign currencies.
From preliminary examinations, investigators found 75 domains and websites suspected to be used for online gambling operations. These domains use combinations of characters and variations of certain names to avoid blocking.
