Majority of 321 Foreign Nationals Knew They Would Work for Online Gambling in Hayam Wuruk

That fact was conveyed by Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra during a press conference at the scene in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5/2026). He initially revealed that hundreds of foreign national perpetrators of online gambling had already been in Indonesia for two months.

“From the results of examinations over approximately two months, they on average stayed in the areas around this tower,” Wira said during the press conference.

He stated that the foreign nationals worked daily in the high-rise building. The upper floors of the building, he said, were purely used for online gambling operations.

“So the upper part is purely used for the operations of online gambling activities,” he said.

Wira then explained the purpose of the foreign nationals’ arrival in Indonesia. He said they came to Indonesia specifically to work in online gambling.

“Regarding their arrival in Indonesia, whether forced or of their own volition? From the examination results, it varies, but the majority of them indeed already knew the purpose was to work in online gambling,” he stated.
