PT PLN (Persero) has successfully recovered a large-capacity power plant in Java that had been experiencing technical issues since last week. This step is significantly minimising the impact of rolling blackouts in Indonesia’s most populous region. PLN Managing Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the plant was re-synchronised with the Java electricity system on Sunday night. The facility is one of two large partner-owned plants that went offline due to technical problems on Friday (19/6). “There is good news, last night one large plant was recovered and synchronised with the electricity system in Java and began supplying power to the Java system,” Darmawan said, as reported by Antara in Jakarta on Monday (22/6). The recovery was achieved through collaboration between PLN’s special expert team and the plant’s managing partner, an Independent Power Producer (IPP). With the unit back in operation, the primary energy supply is now reported to be flowing smoothly according to the required specifications. Darmawan emphasised that the condition of the electricity system in Java continues to show an improving trend. Nevertheless, PLN remains on alert with personnel conducting strict 24-hour monitoring to ensure system reliability is maintained. “We are making an all-out effort 24 hours a day, seven days a week, both in monitoring and mapping all measures so that improvements to the reliability of the electricity system in Java can be maintained,” he stressed. In addition to technical repairs, PLN is prioritising infrastructure strengthening and improvements to the primary energy supply chain management. These acceleration efforts are being carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to ensure national energy stability is maintained.
