West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) has assured safety and comfort for Mudik travellers in 2026. A number of mosques in Lombok will be utilised as resting places for travellers heading home for Mudik.

The Head of the Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB), Kombes Romadhoni Sutardjo, said service posts along the road from Lembar Port to Kayangan will be built. He described this as an effort to provide a sense of safety and comfort for travellers.

‘There will be rest stops at each destination, namely at the respective ports. We will also establish service posts and security posts along the route,’ Romadhoni explained at Kayangan Port on Thursday (5 March 2026).

In addition, large mosques located along the roadside will be used as resting places for Mudik travellers. Romadhoni said these mosques will be opened 24 hours and can be used by travellers to rest.

‘This year, the Minister of Religious Affairs also stated that large mosques along the routes will be operated 24 hours to allow travellers to rest there,’ he said.

To alleviate congestion during Mudik, the Ministry of Transportation will issue a circular to restrict the operation of large three-axle trucks. According to Romadhoni, such large vehicles are a contributory factor to road congestion.

‘From the Ministry of Transportation, a circular will be issued to limit the operations of three-axle vehicles. Those are usually the ones that make the roads quite crowded. So there will be specific times for them to travel on our routes,’ he explained.

He urged Mudik travellers to always comply with traffic regulations and to rest when fatigued.

‘The slogan launched by Korlantas Polri is “mudik aman keluarga bahagia”. We expect Mudik travellers to be provided with facilities. So please rest if you are tired,’ Romadhoni concluded.
