The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang, has confirmed that the Deputy Head of the BGN, Major General Trenggono, has submitted his resignation letter from the TNI. This action follows Trenggono’s recent appointment by President Prabowo Subianto to the position of Deputy Head of the BGN.

“Before being asked why an active TNI member is involved, I would clarify that he has initiated the resignation process and will likely retire in the near future,” Nanik stated during a press conference at the BGN Office on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

Nanik explained that Trenggono’s resignation letter was drafted on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, and she ensured that he will be retiring from the TNI. “The resignation process has been underway since yesterday,” she added.

Furthermore, Nanik explained that the BGN requires military involvement to implement the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, as the agency needs territorial experts in the 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost). “Why is there military involvement? He was previously the Deputy President Director of PT Agrinas. Because there is a connection to the 3T programme, we require territorial experts there,” she said.

It is noted that President Prabowo Subianto removed Dadan Hindayana as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency effective Tuesday, 2 June 2026. The removal was announced by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, who also serves as the Presidential Spokesperson, during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Tuesday night.

“On this day, Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the President has made the decision to change the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency,” said Prasetyo.

Dadan has been replaced by Nanik S. Deyang, who previously served as the Deputy Head of the BGN. Simultaneously, the President also appointed Agustina Arumsari as the new Deputy Head of the BGN, replacing Lodewijk Pusung, and Major General TNI Trenggono as Deputy Head, replacing Sony Sonjaya.
