Major Drug Lord Arrested in Deli Serdang, Thousands of Ecstasy Pills Seized
The tactic of moving between rented houses in densely populated neighbourhoods failed to save DH (48), a major drug lord, from police pursuit. The Narcotics Unit of the Medan Metropolitan Police arrested the repeat offender in Muliorejo Village, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, seizing thousands of ecstasy pills and luxury assets suspected to be proceeds of money laundering.
Medan Metropolitan Police Narcotics Unit Head, Kompol Rafli Yusuf Nugraha, stated that the arrest of DH, a resident of Simpang Empat District, Asahan Regency, was the result of developing a large-scale drug trafficking network. DH is known to be a veteran player who has been in and out of prison four times.
“In a single month, the perpetrator can move residence up to four times. He always rents houses in densely populated areas to deceive officers,” Rafli said on Tuesday (16/6/2026).
During the raid in Muliorejo Village, DH attempted to trick officers by hiding behind a car parked inside the house. He also remained silent about the location of the illicit goods. However, after a thorough search, officers managed to find thousands of narcotics stored in cardboard boxes and a suitcase. The evidence seized includes 10,447 ecstasy pills, 828 narcotic vapes, and cash amounting to Rp246 million suspected to be proceeds from drug transactions.
“These narcotics were supplied from Malaysia. We are certain this perpetrator is a major drug lord,” he stated.
Beyond charging DH with drug offences, the police also seized three luxury cars and several motorcycles. These assets are suspected to be the result of money laundering from the illegal business run by the suspect. “We are not only focused on developing the drug case. We are also deepening the investigation into the money laundering case,” Rafli concluded.
The Medan Metropolitan Police recorded an extreme surge in drug cases within its jurisdiction during the first half of 2026. The number of cases uncovered more than doubled compared to the same period last year. From January to June 2026, the Medan Metropolitan Police uncovered 997 narcotics cases. This figure jumped 117 percent, or an increase of 538 cases, compared to the first half of 2025. The case disclosures were accompanied by the arrest of 1,211 individuals suspected of involvement in trafficking and drug abuse networks.
