Major drug haul in N. Sumatra

MEDAN (JP): North Sumatra Police have confiscated over one ton of dry cannabis in the last six months, with one-third of the haul seized Thursday morning.

During a raid on Jl. Sering early Thursday, police seized 316 kilograms of cannabis, 145.2 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) and 10,000 ecstasy pills. Two suspects were also apprehended.

Police chief Brig. Gen. Sutiyono said on Friday the raid occurred after police questioned a woman suspect who was under surveillance for some time.

He said the suspect admitted she hid contraband at the house on Jl. Sering.(39)
