Majalengka Regency to Implement Work From Home Next Month
The Majalengka Regency Government will implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy starting from the beginning of next month. This policy was announced by Regent Eman Suherman during a halal bihalal event held at the Setda Majalengka Tennis Court on Thursday (26/3). “The implementation of WFH is a follow-up to directives from the central government, following global dynamics related to the conflict in the Middle East region that impacts the energy sector,” said Eman. The WFH implementation is also part of efforts to adapt to global conditions, particularly the impact on the energy sector. Therefore, efficiency is needed, including in the work patterns of civil servants (ASN). Even with WFH in place, Eman emphasised that public services remain the top priority. All regional apparatus are urged to ensure services to the public continue normally, especially in units that directly interact with the community. “WFH does not mean a holiday but working from home. Services to the public must continue. So, officials will give instructions to carry out work according to their respective fields,” said Eman. Eman added that, in addition to implementing WFH, the Majalengka Regency Government is also carrying out other efficiencies, such as reducing official trips and limiting ceremonial activities within the government environment. “We will conduct periodic evaluations of this policy to ensure its effectiveness, both in terms of ASN performance and public services to the community,” said Eman. The public is also asked not to panic in responding to this policy. “We ask the public not to panic. This is a precautionary and efficiency measure, not due to an emergency situation in the area,” emphasised Eman. In addition to the WFH policy, observers stress the importance of government spending efficiency, particularly in major programmes. If the WFH policy is reimplemented, clear technical arrangements are needed in every regional apparatus.
