Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta’s Health Service has urged all mudik travellers, particularly drivers, to ensure their physical condition is optimal during their journeys, including obtaining adequate rest for six to eight hours before departure.

“Stop and rest every three to four hours of travel, avoid driving whilst drowsy or tired,” said Acting Head of the Health Services Division at Jakarta’s Health Service Debi Intan Suri when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In addition, travellers are advised to consume nutritious food and adequate fluids, refrain from using mobile phones whilst driving, and always comply with traffic regulations.

“Fatigue and insufficient rest are among the main causes of accidents during mudik season. Safety is the top priority, as families are waiting in their hometowns,” Debi said.

The Jakarta Provincial Government will provide health screening posts during the mudik and return journeys for Lebaran from 13–30 March 2026 at 12 locations, including seven bus terminals, three railway stations, and two ports/wharves during the Lebaran mudik season 2026.

The details include Terminal Kampung Rambutan, Terminal Pulo Gebang, Terminal Kalideres, Terminal Tanjung Priok, Terminal Grogol, Terminal Lebak Bulus, and Terminal Muara Angke.

Additionally, Pasar Senen Railway Station, Gambir Railway Station, and Jakarta Kota Railway Station, as well as Kali Adem Port and Muara Angke Port.

Health screening also includes self-screening activities for smoking, physical activity, tuberculosis, mental illness, liver disease, cancer risk factors, nutritional status, hypertension, diabetes, skin disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lung cancer.

There will also be measurement of weight, height, and waist circumference, counselling and education, screening for narcotics, alcohol, and respiratory assessment (fitness-to-drive examination).
