Maintain public order as South Jakarta Satpol PP nets 21 PPKS during Ramadan
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Satpol Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) of South Jakarta (Jaksel) rounded up 21 Pemerlu Pelayanan Kesejahteraan Sosial (PPKS) during the Ramadan month to maintain public order in several areas. ‘We conduct outreach to PPKS at various points to maintain public order during Ramadan,’ said Nanto Dwi Subekti, head of Satpol PP Jakarta Selatan, when contacted in Jakarta on Friday. He said the outreach is carried out routinely, including through joint operations with elements of the kelurahan, kecamatan, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Police (Polri), and the Social Services Office. The activity, he said, forms part of the enforcement of DKI Jakarta Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2007 on Public Order. ‘Those rounded up were then handed over to the Dinas Sosial for further handling,’ Nanto added.
He cited that several outreach operations had been conducted in a number of districts, including Kebayoran Baru and Kebayoran Lama. In Kebayoran Baru District, Satpol PP netted two female sex workers during the outreach that took place on Falatehan Street, Melawai Sub-district, on Wednesday night, 4 February, at about 23:45 WIB. The two were then handed over to the Kedoya Dinas Sosial for further handling.
Later, Satpol PP Kebayoran Lama also carried out PPKS outreach at several points on Friday night (27 February) until completion. The locations included Jalan Letjen Soepeno (traffic light ITC Permata Hijau), Jalan Teuku Nyak Arif, Jalan Metro Pondok Indah, and Jalan Gedung Hijau. ‘In these activities, officers secured four PPKS consisting of buskers and street performers, who were then handed over to the Pelayanan, Pengawasan dan Pengendalian Sosial (P3S) unit for guidance,’ Nanto said.
In addition, two other individuals signed a guarantor statement, while several items, such as guitars, violins and clown equipment, were seized by officers. Satpol PP Jakarta Selatan is committed to continued monitoring and outreach throughout Ramadan to maintain public order and community comfort. ‘We will continue patrols and outreach at vulnerable points to keep the area safe, orderly and conducive during Ramadan,’ Nanto asserted.
