Mail Idul Fitri cards right away

JAKARTA (JP): Idul Fitri greeting card senders should mail their cards at least two weeks before the holiday, to ensure they reach their destinations on time, the Jakarta Post Office spokesman, A. Pandhu Rieswandhi, said.

More than 55 million greeting cards are expected to pass through the postal service based on last year's record of 56 million cards and letters sent.

The Islamic Idul Fitri holidays will fall on Feb. 20 and 21 this year.

Post Office workers will be prohibited from taking leave in the run-up to the holiday because the service needs all the help it can get.

"We'll be operating with 6,500 people, including retired workers and students, to speed up sorting the mail," Rieswandhi said. (14)
