Maid reports employer's torture

JAKARTA (JP): An employer in South Jakarta is alleged to have tortured her maid.

The maid, Purnaning Triasih, has small stab wounds all over her body seemingly caused by a small instrument.

Purnaning told officers at the Mampang police sub-precinct that her employer, Mrs. Erna, had abused her for three months.

Her case was reported to the police after doctors at the local community health center had become suspicious of her wounds.

Mrs. Erna told the police that she suspected Purnaning of stealing Rp 30,000, but declined to comment on the alleged abuse. (anr)
