Maid jailed for mixing urine with tea
SINGAPORE: An Indonesian maid was jailed for 10 weeks in
Singapore for lacing the tea and coffee she served her employers
with her urine, a report said on Friday.
Yuliana Tukiran, 21, told a court she had hoped her act would
speed up her being sent back to Indonesia, the Straits Times
said.
On several occasions between Feb. 6 and March 17, the maid's
employers noticed an odd taste to their coffee and tea.
Magistrate Gilbert Low, who handed down the sentence,
described her act as "disgusting" and pointed out it could have
spread disease to her employers.
There are about 140,000 maids in Singapore, with one in seven
households employing one. --AFP
