Metro Jaya Police have named three suspects in a case of alleged child exploitation, deprivation of liberty, and Human Trafficking Crime (TPPO).

This case is linked to an incident where two domestic workers (PRTs) jumped from the fourth floor of a boarding house in the Benhil area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. One of the PRTs, aged 15, died in the incident.

The three suspects are initialled AV, T alias U, and WA alias Y. They are currently detained at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort.

“Investigators acted professionally and swiftly. Suspects T and WA have been detained since 29 April 2026, while suspect AV followed and was detained today, 5 May 2026. The detention is for the purposes of further investigation,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in his statement on Wednesday (6/5).

Based on the investigation results, suspect AV is alleged to have employed victim D from November 2025 to April 2026. Meanwhile, suspects T and WA played roles in the recruitment process of the victim as a Domestic Worker (PRT).

In this case, investigators have secured various important pieces of evidence, from victim documents, electronic devices, DVR CCTV recordings, to visum et repertum results and autopsies.

The police have also coordinated with P3A (Integrated Service Centre for Women’s and Children’s Empowerment) and LPSK to provide maximum support and protection for victim witnesses.

“We ensure that the handling of this case is carried out transparently and thoroughly. The suspects are charged under Article 446 of the Criminal Code, Article 455 of the Criminal Code, and Article 76I in conjunction with Article 88 of the Child Protection Law,” said Budi.

Furthermore, Metro Jaya Police urge the public to be more vigilant and selective in recruiting labour, especially ensuring no involvement of minors, which constitutes a legal violation.

“The police ask residents to immediately report to the nearest police station or via the 110 Call Centre if they find practices leading to human exploitation or TPPO in their surroundings to maintain a conducive public security and order situation,” Budi concluded.

Previously, two domestic workers (PRTs) allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of a boarding house in the Benhil area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/4) night.

From preliminary investigations, the two PRTs are suspected of jumping because they were unhappy with their work and wanted to escape.

“The person reportedly was not comfortable. Then she escaped with one witness. So both jumped from the fourth floor. One died, one has a broken arm,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, AKBP Roby Saputra, to reporters on Thursday (23/4).

From the statement of the surviving victim, they claimed to be unhappy because their employer was harsh.

“Yes, harsh, harsh. Like that, cruel, harsh. That could be with words, or with actions. We don’t know yet because the examination is not finished,” he said.
