Maid charged with killing employer
SINGAPORE: A 22-year-old Indonesian maid has been arrested and
charged with the murder of her Singaporean employer, a police
spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Har Chit Heang, 57, was found dead in her bedroom two days ago
with injuries to her right wrist. The dead woman, clad in a white
t-shirt and grey shorts, was lying face up on the bed, next to a
fruit knife with a 15-centimeter blade.
Police had received a call from her maid and Har was
pronounced dead when they arrived at her house to investigate.
The maid, who had been with the family for seven months, had
turned to neighbors for help when she said she could not open
Har's bedroom door.
There were no signs of a break-in and only the maid and the
dead woman's seven-month-old grandson were at home.
In June, Singaporeans were shocked when 22-year-old Sundarti
Supriyanto, also of Indonesia, was charged with murdering her
Singaporean employer and the woman's 3-year-old daughter.
The death penalty is mandatory in Singapore for capital
crimes.--Agencies
