Mahulu accelerates emergency response through regional hospital construction

Mahakam Ulu Regency in East Kalimantan is accelerating emergency response by constructing the Gerbang Sehat Mahulu Regional General Hospital (RSUD), whilst simultaneously strengthening referral health services for communities in the nation’s border region. “The construction of RSUD Gerbang Sehat Mahulu is the fruit of the Best Fast Results Programme (PHTC), as a form of the regional government’s commitment to delivering health services that are easily accessible, of high quality, and equitable,” said Mahulu Regent Angela Idang Belawan in Ujoh Bilang on Saturday. The geographical challenges faced by Mahulu are a key reason for the need to strengthen referral health facilities, so that the public no longer faces limited access to advanced medical care. She continued that PHTC is a strategic government measure to realise equitable health services in 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) regions. This is especially pertinent as Mahulu shares a land border with Sarawak, East Malaysia. The regent therefore expressed relief that the hospital’s construction process is now underway following the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, two days prior, meaning the community will be able to enjoy better health services more quickly in the future. She also invited all elements of society to jointly support and oversee this construction process to ensure it runs smoothly, so that the great hope of delivering modern and quality health services can soon be realised. The regent also voiced her strong hope that this hospital will become a source of pride for the people of Mahulu, whilst being able to provide the best health services for both current and future generations.
