Mahulu accelerates emergency response through regional hospital construction

Mahakam Ulu (Mahulu), East Kalimantan — Mahakam Ulu Regency is accelerating emergency response capabilities through the construction of the Gerbang Sehat Mahulu Regional General Hospital (RSUD), aimed at strengthening referral healthcare services for communities in the national border region.

“The construction of the Gerbang Sehat Mahulu RSUD is the fruit of the Quickest Best Results Programme (PHTC), representing the local government’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality, and equitable healthcare services,” stated the Regent of Mahulu, Angela Idang Belawan, in Ujoh Bilang on Saturday.

The geographical challenges faced by Mahulu serve as a critical reason for strengthening referral health facilities, ensuring that the community no longer faces limited access to advanced medical services.

The PHTC, she continued, is a strategic government step towards achieving equitable healthcare services in 3T areas (underdeveloped, frontier, and remote). This is particularly vital as Mahulu shares a land border with Sarawak, East Malaysia.

Consequently, the Regent expressed relief that the construction process is currently underway following the groundbreaking ceremony held on Thursday. This development is expected to allow the community to benefit from improved healthcare services in the near future.

She also called upon all elements of society to support and oversee the construction process to ensure it proceeds smoothly, so that the great hope of providing modern and high-scale healthcare services can be realised.

The Regent further expressed her great hope that this hospital will become a source of pride for the people of Mahulu, while being capable of providing the best healthcare services for both current and future generations.
