In the March 29, 1995 issue of The Jakarta Post, I read "Other Opinion" and, in particular, the translation of an article from Kompas, under the title Mahathir reigns until 2020?

This letter should, in fact, be sent to Kompas.

The Jakarta Post quoted Mahathir's speech on March 27, 1995 (page 14). The Malaysian Prime Minister indeed remarked that five years are not enough for a government and that the Barisan Nasional has already ruled for 44 years. He also said that the same Barisan Nasional and his government should continue to rule for another 25 year. He never said that he himself wanted to stay in power until 2020, adding: I will not be around...
