Mahathir 'unaware' of latest probe

KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on
Tuesday he was not aware of any investigation by authorities into
Malaysia's former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.

"There is no investigation," Mahathir was quoted as saying by
the national news agency, Bernama. "Maybe they have asked him, I
don't know."

Speculation has been rife for more than a week that police had
or were about to raid Daim's house and that he was about to be
arrested.

Mahathir said on Tuesday that he met Daim at his office the
previous day because the prime minister wanted "to know some
details."
