Mahathir tours Central Asia

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad left here yesterday leading a week-long trade and investment mission to Mongolia and the Central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan, Bernama news agency reported.

Mahathir was accompanied by seven federal ministers, the chief minister of the state of Melaka and a 66-member business delegation.

The Malaysian delegation is to spend three days in Mongolia before flying to Kyrgyzstan for another three days and returning home Sunday.

Accompanying ministers include Foreign Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Transport Minister Ling Liong Sik, International Trade and Industry Minister Rafidah Aziz, and Energy, Telecommunications and Posts Minister Leo Moggie.
