Mahathir starts two-month break

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuter): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad left for London late Sunday to begin a two-month vacation, Malaysian newspapers said yesterday.

The Prime Minister will visit several countries including Poland, Hungary and Switzerland as part of his work-and-rest break.

In London, Mahathir, who is accompanied by his wife Siti Hasmah, is expected to address entrepreneurs in the information technology business to promote the Multimedia Super Corridor, a high technology zone being created near Kuala Lumpur.

The newspapers said he was to call on the new British Prime Minister Tony Blair yesterday.
