Mahathir out of hospital

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad
has been discharged from hospital and will rest at home for a few
days, officials said on Monday.

"The prime minister has been discharged. He will be resting at
home for a few days," an official at the National Heart Institute
said.

Mahathir, 73, was hospitalized at the National Heart Institute
on April 2 with a lung infection, two days after he returned from
his pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to perform the haj. The prime
minister, who has been in power for 18 years, had a coronary
bypass in 1989.

Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi earlier said
Mahathir's condition was improving and he was taking some
exercise.
