Mahathir leaves for Dubai
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad left yesterday for Dubai where he will make a speech at an international forum, Bernama news agency reported.
Mahathir will go on to Germany today for a three-day visit. He is due to address a Malaysian-German business forum in Hanover on "Southeast Asia after the economic crisis -- challenges and opportunities".
Officials said the prime minister would also urge German information technology companies to invest in Malaysia's ambitious Multimedia Supercorridor.
The supercorridor, an area for computer and multimedia-related industries, is the brainchild of Mahathir who wants to propel Malaysia into the information age after steering it to the threshold of industrialization.
