Mahathir, Goh hold talks
SINGAPORE (AFP): Visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir
Mohamad met with his Singapore counterpart Goh Chok Tong on
Saturday for talks on bilateral and regional matters, officials
said.
"The two leaders reviewed regional developments, and exchanged
views on the forthcoming ASEAN summit," a spokesman for Goh's
office said.
Malaysia and Singapore are both members of the Association of
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which also groups Brunei,
Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
ASEAN leaders are due to meet this month in Bangkok for annual
summit talks.
Goh and Mahathir also discussed Singapore-Malaysian relations
and "agreed to explore new areas within a wider framework of
bilateral ties," officials said, but no details were available.
