Mahathir asks S'pore to compromise
MALAYSIA: Singapore must be willing to compromise if it wants to resolve outstanding bilateral issues with Malaysia, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said in remarks published on Sunday.
"We can resolve the issues but there must be a certain level of compromise (on Singapore's part)," Mahathir was quoted as saying by the New Sunday Times.
The premier said the problems could be ironed out if Singapore was willing to concede in areas where Malaysia was correct in its demands and had the rights.
Mahathir was responding to remarks by Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong last Friday calling for bilateral knots to be resolved so the two nations could work together on issues affecting the region. --AFP
