Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Shakes Philippines, Tremors Felt in Indonesia
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - An earthquake shook the southern Philippines on Monday (15/6/2026) at around 16:18 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre was near Pondaguitan, a coastal village in Davao Province on the island of Mindanao, with a magnitude of 6.2 and a depth of 111.9 kilometres. The location is the same as the earthquake and tsunami that struck the previous week, which claimed 65 lives. No tsunami warning has been issued following this earthquake, and there are no updates yet on damage or casualties. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) also reported the same earthquake, but recorded it with a magnitude of 6.5. The BMKG stated the earthquake’s location was at 6.09 North Latitude and 126.88 East Longitude, approximately 233 kilometres northeast of Melonguane, North Sulawesi.
