Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Strikes Pacitan, Four Aftershocks Recorded
A magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in the southeast region of Pacitan, East Java, on Saturday (27/6). The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported the quake struck at 14:47 WIB, located at coordinates 8.96 degrees South latitude and 111.16 degrees East longitude, approximately 86 kilometres southeast of Pacitan, at a depth of 10 kilometres. The agency stated that the information prioritised speed, meaning the data processing results were not yet stable and could change as more complete data becomes available. BMKG later reported at least four aftershocks, occurring at 15:02, 15:05, 15:10, and 15:12 WIB, with magnitudes ranging between 2.4 and 2.5.
