A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Kabupaten Melawi in West Kalimantan. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.

According to the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) via its X account, the earthquake took place on Friday, 13 March 2026 at 03:04 Western Indonesia Time. The epicentre was located 81 kilometres north of Melawi on land.

The earthquake’s coordinates placed it at 0.01° South Latitude and 111.90° East Longitude. The tremor intensity (MMI) was measured at III, indicating vibrations that were distinctly felt indoors, resembling the passage of a large truck. The earthquake was felt across Sintang and Sanggau districts.

The earthquake registered MMI III intensity in Sintang, MMI III in Sanggau, MMI II in Katingan, and MMI II in Melawi.
