Magnitude 4.7 Earthquake Shakes Waters off West Coast of Lampung
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook the waters 59 kilometres south of Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, in the early hours of Saturday. According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the tremor occurred at 00:28 WIB. The earthquake was located at coordinates 5.72 South Latitude and 103.90 East Longitude, with a depth of 31 kilometres. The shaking was felt in three areas of Lampung Province: Kota Agung, Tanggamus Regency, and Pesisir Barat Regency. As of the time of reporting, BMKG had not announced whether the earthquake posed a tsunami risk, and there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. A similar earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 occurred in the region on 28 June 2026, with its epicentre located 81 kilometres southeast of Tanggamus Regency, Lampung.
