Magnitude 4.3 Earthquake Strikes Keerom District, Papua
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 struck Keerom District, Papua. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 46 kilometres.
The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) reported on Saturday, 28 February 2026 that the earthquake measured magnitude 4.3 and was located 54 kilometres north-west of Keerom, Papua.
BMKG reported the earthquake occurred at 00:31 Western Indonesia Time. The epicentre coordinates were located at 3.30° south latitude and 140.27° east longitude.
As of the time of reporting, there have been no reports of damage or impact from the earthquake.
BMKG noted that the information prioritises speed, and therefore the data processing results are not yet stable and may change as more complete data becomes available.
