Maggot Findings Lead KSP Dudung to Suspend Two MBG Kitchens in West Jakarta!
Jakarta – Presidential Chief of Staff General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman stated that two Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), or kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, which he inspected on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, have had their operations suspended.
During the inspection, Dudung said the two MBG kitchens were deemed unfit. This was due to findings of maggots and piles of rubbish in the kitchens.
“Yes, I inspected the SPPG yesterday, in the kitchens around Grogol and Petamburan. In my view, they were indeed not up to standard, and the Head of BGN responded immediately, so they were suspended right away as I saw,” Dudung told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 14 May 2026.
Dudung explained that President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto had directed that children should receive truly nutritious food.
He then reminded all MBG kitchens not to focus solely on profit.
“It’s not as simple as people doing whatever they want just to make a profit from it,” he clarified.
Furthermore, Dudung said he would conduct further surprise inspections at MBG kitchens in West Java and Central Java.
“Now, the ones I inspected, and I will check several regions. I hear that in Central Java and West Java, there are issues from the determination of locations to the food preparation process, delivery, and so on, which do not meet standards,” Dudung concluded.
Previously reported, Presidential Chief of Staff General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman conducted a surprise inspection at two SPPG kitchens in the Kebon Jeruk and Grogol Petamburan areas, West Jakarta.
During the inspection, Dudung found several serious issues related to cleanliness and food health standards.
Conditions deemed not up to standard included dirty kitchen areas, the presence of maggots, pallets that did not meet healthy standards, inadequate washing facilities, hot kitchen rooms, as well as mixed dry kitchen areas, wet storage, and dry warehouses.
“The two kitchens I inspected are not fit,” Dudung said in a written statement on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
