The Magetan Regency Government in East Java has received an allocation of 691 units from the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) programme for 2026 to assist low-income communities in obtaining liveable homes. Johannes Chrysostomus, the BSPS Coordinator for Magetan Regency from the Housing and Settlements Provision Implementing Centre (BP3) for Java IV Surabaya, stated that this strategic programme from the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas is designed to improve the quality of life for low-income communities through housing that is more decent, healthy, and safe on the basis of mutual cooperation.

The total allocation of BSPS programme recipients for 2026 in the Magetan Regency area is divided into four decrees, with details of the first decree covering 312 houses, the second decree 345 houses, the third decree three houses, and the fourth decree 31 houses, resulting in a total quota of 691 housing units, Johannes explained during a village socialisation event regarding the programme at Nitikan Village, Plaosan District, Magetan, on Tuesday.

He stressed that programme implementation must be carried out in accordance with the provisions, from the verification process of prospective recipients to house construction and activity reporting. Additionally, coordination and supervision between the regional government, sub-districts, villages, and field facilitators must be strengthened to ensure the programme runs smoothly and is on target.

There are conditions that must be met according to the technical guidelines of Circular Letter Number 1 of 2026 from the ministry. We request support from the village government and the TNI, especially in the aspect of mutual cooperation. This programme remains prioritised for the most severely damaged houses, Johannes stated. The BSPS programme must be truly well-targeted so that the results can be directly felt by the community.
