The Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) of Magetan Regency is intensifying tourism promotions to increase visitor numbers during the school holiday season in June-July 2026. Head of the Tourism Destination Division at Disbudpar Magetan, Yosef Cahyo Wibawanto, stated on Saturday that preparations are being made through cross-sector collaboration within the office. The Marketing, Destination, and Culture divisions are jointly developing strategies to attract more tourists during the holiday period. “One of the efforts is strengthening promotion through social media and various digital information channels,” he said. According to him, the promotion is not only focused on Telaga Sarangan as Magetan’s main destination but is also directed at introducing various other attractions, including those managed by village governments, tourism awareness groups, and the private sector. In addition to intensifying tourism promotion, Disbudpar is also collaborating with various business actors and tourism associations to ensure the comfort and safety of tourists during their holidays in Magetan. “We invite tourists to come to Magetan and enjoy the various destinations available. Not just Telaga Sarangan, but also other destinations that have their own potential and appeal,” said Yosef. He assessed that spreading tourist visits to various destinations is important so that the economic benefits of the tourism sector can be felt more widely by the Magetan community. Destinations being promoted ahead of the school holidays include Mojosemi Forest Park, Taman Ria Maospati (Tamris), Lembah Srimpi, the Sgodean area, Refugia Flower Garden, and several developing tourist villages, such as Kampung Susu Singolangu and others. Disbudpar hopes that the increase in tourist visits during the holiday season will boost the community’s economic turnover, especially for tourism business actors such as traders, lodging managers, tourist transport services, and MSMEs. In addition to promotion, the Magetan Regency Government is also trying to increase tourist appeal by organising various attractions and entertainment in tourist areas. Several cultural activities, dance performances, and music entertainment are scheduled to provide a more attractive experience for visitors. Disbudpar has also asked food and beverage businesses in all tourist areas to display price lists to prevent unclear price increases that could harm tourists. This appeal is not only for culinary businesses but also for hotel operators, boat ride services, horse ride services, and other tourism business groups to maintain tariffs according to regulations and provide good service to visitors. Entering the peak of the school holiday season, Disbudpar estimates that tourist visits to Telaga Sarangan could reach 3,000 to 4,000 people per day. This surge is expected to be a momentum for Magetan’s tourism sector, particularly in increasing local revenue and strengthening its contribution to the regional economy. With promotional efforts, enhanced tourist attractions, and improved visitor services, the office is confident that Magetan Regency can become one of the favourite destinations for East Java residents during this year’s school holiday season.
