Magetan BPBD Records 84 Disaster Incidents in March 2026

Magetan (ANTARA) - The Magetan Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in East Java recorded 84 disasters and incidents in the local area throughout March 2026.

The Acting Head of the Magetan Regency BPBD, Eka Radityo, stated in Magetan on Monday that the disasters were triggered by extreme weather affecting the region, ranging from landslides and strong winds to flash floods.

“During the period from 1 March to 31 March 2026, a total of 84 disaster events and incidents were recorded in Magetan Regency. These incidents were spread across 14 sub-districts and caused various impacts on the community,” he said.

From the total incidents, he noted one person died and five were injured. Regarding damage, 13 residents’ houses were affected, two road units were damaged, and two motorcycle units were damaged.

Of the 84 disasters, 37 were extreme weather events involving strong winds, 18 were landslides, 22 were flash floods, one was a search and rescue evacuation, three were animal search and rescue evacuations, and three were solar spills on roads.

In terms of distribution by area, Plaosan Sub-district recorded the most disasters with 18 incidents, followed by Magetan Sub-district with 17, Poncol with 14, Ngariboyo with eight, and Kartoharjo with seven.

Additionally, Sukomoro had six incidents, while Panekan and Sidorejo each had three; Kawedanan and Maospati each had two; and Karas, Karangrejo, Barat, and Parang each had one.

“The data indicates that Magetan Regency still has a fairly high disaster vulnerability potential,” he said.

Therefore, Eka continued, there is a need to increase vigilance, preparedness, and synergy among all parties in efforts to prevent and manage disasters in Magetan Regency.
