MagangHub Programme Registrations Surge Past 400,000, Far Exceeding Initial 50,000 Quota
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Enthusiasm for the National Internship Programme (MagangHub) run by the Ministry of Manpower has far exceeded the available quota. In the first phase of registration, the number of applicants has surpassed 400,000, while the available quota is only 50,000 participants out of a national target of 150,000.
Manpower Minister Yassierli stated that partner companies are currently in the process of selecting interns for the first phase. “Alhamdulillah, the internship process is underway. We are currently conducting selection with companies. We have just opened the first batch for 50,000 people, but the enthusiasm is extraordinary, with more than 400,000 registering,” Yassierli said in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday (4/8/2026).
He expressed hope that companies would find suitable candidates, allowing participants to gain valuable work experience during the programme. “We hope companies can find candidates that meet their expectations, so that our intern participants can learn a lot at these companies,” he said.
Yassierli added that the ministry is continuously monitoring the programme’s implementation. For the second phase, the government will ensure that participant placements are better aligned with their fields of study and competencies.
In addition to the internship programme, the government is also preparing free vocational training for 270,000 high school, vocational school, or equivalent graduates to enhance their technical and non-technical skills as preparation for entering the workforce or entrepreneurship. “We are currently collecting data, the curriculum is ready, and the instructors are ready,” said Yassierli. According to him, the vocational training aims to improve participants’ skills so they are better prepared to work in industry or start their own businesses. “We have trained 70,000, and we will add 270,000 vocational training slots at 43 centres under the Ministry of Manpower,” he stated.
