Madura Stall Attendant in Kuta Assaulted, Eye Nearly Dislodged
A Madura food stall attendant became the victim of a brutal assault by a customer, resulting in severe eye injuries. Police have arrested the suspected perpetrator, a man with the initials FA.
The incident occurred at a Madura stall on Jalan Simpati, Tuban Geriya, Kuta District, Badung, Bali, on Sunday (28/6). After the attack, the perpetrator immediately fled the location.
‘The victim sustained serious injuries to the right eye, causing bleeding and the eyeball to nearly come out, after which the reported individual left the scene,’ stated Denpasar Police Public Relations Head, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
The incident began when the victim, identified as HA (56), was tending the stall with her husband, SU (56). Two customers arrived, namely the perpetrator FA and his nephew. While shopping, the nephew played with the stall’s door rope. The victim reprimanded the child, worried the rope might break. This reprimand offended FA, who became angry and left the stall.
A few minutes later, FA returned carrying a rock. While the victim was sitting in front of the stall, FA struck her in the face with the rock, causing severe injury to her right eye. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the Kuta Police.
Following a series of investigations, police apprehended FA. During questioning, he admitted to hitting the victim with a rock. ‘The perpetrator committed the act because he was offended and under the influence of alcohol,’ Adi added. In addition to detaining FA, police seized evidence including the rock used in the assault and the clothes worn during the incident. FA has been charged under Article 466 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated assault.
