Bangkalan (ANTARA News) - State power firm PT PLN, Bangkalan branch, Madura, East Java, has been preparing the supply of power to industries operating at industrial sites in the western-most end of the island after the opening of the Suramadu (Surabaya-Madura) bridge.

"We are ready to supply electricity to industries," Umar Solihin of PLN Bangkalan told the press Friday.

He added that the power supply for industries in the island now comes from own sources, no longer from over-the-island system in Gresik in East Java. The electricity is transported to Bangkalan via cables attached to the Suramadu bridge from Paiton.

PLN Bangkalan has supplied power to some industries, including a bottled water industry in Tragah village, Tragah. For bigger industries or needs, PLN Bangkalan still faces infrastructure shortcomings so that the request from the container port at Socah has not been met.

In addition to directly supplying industries from its own sources, PLN Bangkalan has been moving to high gear to get new pre-paying customers, a new method of electricity subscription where users are required to pay for power in advance.
