Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - The Council of the Association and Brotherhood of the Madurese Community (MPPM) organised a shared breaking of the fast (iftar) and charitable donations to orphans in Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia, on Saturday (7 March).

The event, held in conjunction with the Nuzul al-Qur’an commemorat ion, took place in the grounds of the MPPM Kajang Office and was attended by hundreds of participants from various segments of the Indonesian community in Malaysia.

From the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Danang Waskito attended, together with several embassy officials, including the Coordinator of Social and Cultural Information Functions Fery Iswandi and the Research Attaché Taufik Bin Ismail.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Royal Malaysian Police, community leaders, Islamic scholars, and representatives of Madurese organisations under the Forum for Madurese Organisation Communications (F-KOM).

MPPM Secretary Abdul Kholik said the activity provided a moment to strengthen ties and bolster the sense of togetherness among the Madurese community living abroad.

“This activity is not merely a schedule of breaking the fast; it is also a moment to strengthen silaturahim and deepen the sense of togetherness among the Madurese community abroad,” Abdul Kholik said.

On the occasion, MPPM also presented charitable aid to orphans as a form of the organisation’s social concern for the community.

The aid was handed over by MPPM Chairman Muhdar in cooperation with a representative of the KBRI Kuala Lumpur.

The programme also featured a sermon in honour of Nuzulul Qur’an delivered by Mohammad Kholil from the Lembaga Dakwah Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).

The event was then closed with a joint prayer and continued with breaking the fast and the Maghrib prayer in congregation.

MPPM hopes the event will continue to strengthen the unity and social concern of the Madurese diaspora and enhance the synergy between the community and the country’s representatives in Malaysia.
