Madiun Official Goes Viral for Playing Game During DPRD Plenary Session, Who Is He?

A video circulating on social media shows a suspected official engrossed in playing a game during a plenary session of the Madiun Regency DPRD.

In the 18-second video that has spread online, a man wearing a black suit and black peci is seen intently staring at his phone screen. The screen of the device displays visuals of an online game.

The man appears deeply absorbed in his phone, even though the plenary session can be heard proceeding solemnly in the background.

The official’s behaviour has drawn considerable criticism from netizens.

Purwadi, a member of the Madiun Regency DPRD, said the official was not a council member.

“That is not a member of the Council. That is the Camat (sub-district head). We were all shocked too when we saw the viral video,” said Purwadi, as quoted by detik.com on Saturday (17/7).

A similar statement was made by Anang Sujatno, a member of the Madiun DPRD. He also issued the same denial. Anang confirmed that the man captured on camera playing the game was the Camat of Madiun.

“No. It was not a DPRD member, but the Camat of Madiun,” Anang asserted.
