Madiun Customs and Joint Task Force Seize Thousands of Illegal Cigarettes in Pacitan
Madiun Customs, together with the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the prosecutor’s office and the Pacitan Police, seized 283 packs, or 5,648 cigarettes, comprising machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM) and machine-made white cigarettes (SPM) without excise stamps. The seizure took place during a joint operation targeting illegal cigarettes in Pacitan Regency on Wednesday (30 September 2026).
Madiun Customs chief Heru Djatmika Sunindya said the operation was part of the implementation of the Tobacco Excise Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH CHT) for law enforcement. Officers targeted three locations: a coffee shop on the Southern Cross Route (JLS) in Krajan, Kembang, Pacitan District; a shop in Sidomulyo Village, Kebonagung District; and a shop in Klepu Hamlet, Sidomulyo Village, Kebonagung District.
During the operation, officers found that all three shops were storing and offering for sale cigarettes of various types and brands without excise stamps. They took enforcement action and issued three enforcement evidence reports (SBPs). The goods were then taken to the Madiun Customs office for further examination. Their total value was estimated at Rp8,416,080, with potential state losses of Rp4,230,688.
The action was based on suspected violations of Articles 54 and/or 56 of the Excise Law, as amended by Law No. 7 of 2021 on the Harmonisation of Tax Regulations. The cases are being settled through the ultimum remedium mechanism in accordance with applicable rules. Enforcement data put the settlement amounts for the three SBPs at Rp7,475,000, Rp734,000 and Rp4,484,000, respectively.
Heru said cooperation between Madiun Customs, Satpol PP, the prosecutor’s office and the Pacitan Police was expected to strengthen monitoring and curb the circulation of illegal cigarettes in Pacitan. He added that joint operations and coordination between agencies would continue to enforce excise rules, encourage compliance with legislation and protect state revenue.
