Madiun City Government to stage 29 events in 108th anniversary celebrations

Madiun (ANTARA) - The City Government of Madiun, East Java, is presenting 29 engaging events as part of the 108th anniversary celebrations of Madiun City, which will be held on 20 June and run from 29 May to 25 July 2026. The acting Mayor of Madiun, F. Bagus Panuntun, said the 108th anniversary series adopts the theme ‘Madiun Berkilau’. The programme involves local talents in Madiun City, spanning artists, communities, young creators, and MSME actors, all given space to showcase creativity to the public. ‘What matters is that the anniversary activities are not merely ceremonial. I want the human resources of Madiun City to truly demonstrate creativity and ultimately have an impact on the regional economy,’ Panuntun said at the launch of the 108th anniversary series at Madiun City Hall on Wednesday. He noted that the anniversary momentum represents a major stage for local talent, creative youths, business players, and the wider community to grow together. The City Government of Madiun is opening up space for broad collaboration so that this year’s anniversary can mobilise the community’s economy. Various business actors are involved in every programme. Not only about entertainment, Bagus also wants the anniversary to become a gathering point for the birth of a new creative ecosystem in Madiun City. He noted many young creative people in Madiun have great potential but lack space to develop. Therefore, the City Government is preparing facilities and programmes to develop young creators. One example is a content-creator workshop to be held at three locations during the anniversary series, namely at PSC, GCIO, and the second floor of Pasar Sleko. The listed agendas for the 108th Madiun City Anniversary include the National Vespa Jamboree, Madiun Night Run, Esports Competition, a kirab budaya pencak silat, pesona Barongsai, arts performances, a cemetery pilgrimage, Madiun bersholawat, a drum band parade, a wayang kulit performance, as well as a video-mapping competition and entertainment by national and regional artists. Bagus hopes the entire programme will strengthen Madiun’s identity as a creative city while boosting community economic activity.
