The Madiun City Government in East Java is providing social assistance to renovate 100 uninhabitable houses for low-income residents in the 2026 fiscal year, aiming to provide decent, healthy, and safe housing for the target community. “The Madiun City Government has prepared renovations for 100 uninhabitable houses through the regional budget. God willing, the programme will begin this month,” said Acting Mayor of Madiun F Bagus Panuntun in Madiun on Wednesday. According to him, decent housing is a basic need for every citizen and is one of the important factors in realising a healthy and prosperous life. Therefore, the Madiun City Government continues to strive to present programmes that truly touch the needs of the community, one of which is the uninhabitable house renovation programme, funded by the central government, regional budget, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Police, or through cooperation or CSR with government or private agencies. Residents who receive the assistance are expected to cooperate with the government to ensure the success of this programme. “The hope is that beneficiaries can immediately occupy houses that are more decent, safer, and better to support family health and welfare,” he said. In addition to the uninhabitable house social assistance, the Madiun City Government will also provide social assistance in the form of constructing 50 healthy latrines in 2026 to achieve clean sanitation, bringing the total to 150 units of renovated houses and latrines.
